Pax is a tiny float home that Jason and Cayley restored and renovated. It was one of 25 boats built in Victoria, Canada, for Expo ’86, but it had fallen into disrepair.
Tiny House Boat Pax
Pax is 30 feet (9.1 meters) long and 12.5 feet (3.8 meters) wide. It offers 377 square feet (35 square meters) of the finished surface, not including the rooftop terrace, and another 24 square feet (2.2 square feet) of deck. The front door is made of fur and Purple Heart. The windows allow plenty of natural light to enter the home.
Pax has two levels and a rooftop terrace that can easily host parties of up to 10 people. It also has a garden with decorative plants, vegetables, and herbs.
Tiny House Boat Bathroom
At the entrance, to the left, is the head, also known as the bathroom. It has a stunning shower and livestock trough tub, a composting toilet, and a sink with a vanity with plenty of storage. Opposite the head door is a little corner with more storage for shoes, clothes, and keys. There is also a large battery pack that can run hotel functions.
Adjacent to the head is a staircase that provides access upstairs and integrates storage like those found in most tiny homes.
Kitchen
On the opposite side of the staircase is a life-size kitchen. It has a propane four-burner stove and oven, a fridge and freezer sink, and a lot of cooking surfaces. There is a little bump out into a 2×4 framing for maximum storage. You can utilize the space under the foredeck as a pantry and wine cellar since it lacks insulation, making it cooler than the rest of the boat.
Dinette
Next to the kitchen is the dinette, which has a bench and table. Storage is also under the bench and the base. The floor is made of hardwood recycled from a 1977 bus.

Bedroom and Lounge
Upstairs is a bedroom and a lounge, connected over the galley through a catwalk open on the side. The bedroom doesn’t have a standing height, but the ceiling is high enough to allow both occupants to access the his-and-hers wardrobes without banging their heads. The lounge features two armchairs and a small bookcase. At one point, a futon was also available for guests to sleep over.
The rooftop terrace is accessible through a wooden ladder. The water tanks on this boat are pretty interesting. It’s a scow-style hull with twin keelsons on the exterior, and each one is a water tank. They also serve a function as ballast, and since that’s the lowest part of the boat, the boat is much more stable. The tanks are fairly large and hold approximately 140 gallons each that can last a month.
