Tiny home villages are emerging worldwide as a way of helping to house the homeless. It is because they are cheaper to build. Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission has opened Alexandria Park Tiny Home Village. This is for people without homes to address the issue of homelessness in Los Angeles. This initiative aims to provide inhabitants with a temporary stay of a few months. Thus giving them time to get their lives back on track and search for a permanent home.
These 64-square-foot shelters have aluminum frames with fiber-reinforced plastic composite walls, according to Business Insider. The Park Comprises 103 Tiny homes. It also features 200 Beds, a Laundry room, and restroom facilities with 15 showers, sinks, and toilets.
Each tiny home can accommodate two people. Every person will have a bed topped with a duvet and a toiletries bag tailored for men and women. Each house features an air conditioning unit, a heater, lights, and outlets. Some of the tiny homes and bathrooms are accessible by wheelchair.
The village also has outdoor communal areas, including a small dog park. Residents store their belongings in lockers at the entrance since personal belongings are not permitted inside the premises. The tiny home village also has a storage area where items that cannot fit in lockers or inside the tiny homes are stored.
The front doors all lock, providing its inhabitants with a sense of security. A tall fence lined with security cameras surrounds the entire village. Non-residents cannot enter the premises since its guarded day and night.
